Arbeia was a Roman fort in what is today South Shields, Tyne
and Wear. It has been partly reconstructed and is now a museum. When it was
active it was used to store food for the forces along Hadrian's Wall ,
the northernmost border of the Roman Empire . It also
supplied expeditions into Scotland .
The Roman Emperor himself lived there for a while. See here for details: https://arbeiaromanfort.org.uk/.
